Dear Livejournal.

I accepted, several weeks ago, that you were not sending me the notifications of responses to my posts and comments. I learned to move on. I developed a sense of self that didn't require your affirmation or your attitude.

It's too late.

Please stop sending me the four week old notifications now.

Please.

Oh, come on, you've gotta love "30 new messages" appearing after a six-hour overnight absence.

What he said.

Besides, it's not like they haven't warned us. [livejournal.com profile] status. For all your "what's wrong with LJ now" needs. Besides, they're being datestamped correctly, so they're fitting in nicely with the right posts, and some of them are replies I had missed.

A somewhat more detailed explanation (http://www.livejournal.com/community/lj_maintenance/109755.html) of the mail notification backlog problem.

Ohhhh yeah, been doing that all day myself >.

It's good for ya. An avalance of email keeps you on your toes, or something like that.

Glad to see I'm not the only one. I thought gmail was squrreling away the posts till a psychologically damaging time for me, then going to flood me. It worked.

Glad to hear it's livejournal. < twitch >

Oh thank goodness. I'm sane.

[identity profile] dvandom.livejournal.com 2005-12-08 01:18 pm (UTC)(link)
There is no proof of that.

[identity profile] scrawlgirl.livejournal.com 2005-12-08 12:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah its pissing me off too. :(

Aww, but it's FUN! It's like a clip episode of your favorite TV show!

They've been moving the servers around. Email wonkiness is an artifact of that.

[identity profile] sariel-di.livejournal.com 2005-12-08 08:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Yep. Apparently, IIRC the--[livejournal.com profile] news or [livejournal.com profile] status, one of those--post, they just stored up a bunch of notifications while they were trying to get various ISPs to realize that they still weren't spammers. Now that they've got the spamblocker issue taken care of, they're sending out all the notifications that were in the queue but never sent, which was...a lot.

(See, this is why I keep news and lj_maintainance and stuff friended; it's so much easier to spot the answers to "why am I getting ridiculously delayed e-mail" and "how are you going to pay me back for ridiculous amounts of downtime (if I'm a paid user)" quickly. [laughs])

[identity profile] ryan-howse.livejournal.com 2005-12-08 01:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I got those too.

BAHLEETED.

Y'know, it happens. So be it. Que Sera Sera, which would sound a lot less stupid if it hadn't been in an advertisement for a 50 Cent movie.

Be strong, I know LJ says it loves you, but you can't let it keep manipulating you. Unhealthy relationships never last. Notice how it started sending you all those letters right when you were ready to accept the lack of attention? Honestly, the nerve of some servers.

[identity profile] angryricecooker.livejournal.com 2005-12-08 05:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Man, now I'm going to begin every entry "Dear Livejournal,"

No I'm not.

[identity profile] mrgazpacho.livejournal.com 2005-12-08 05:07 pm (UTC)(link)
glad to know I'm not the only one its doing that too

A little off topic. I am using the same template you are for my community I set up... http://www.livejournal.com/community/mmadness/

How did you get your template to work in the comment pages? All you get is the default LJ template when you hit the leave comment link. Do I have to have a paid account to get that to work?
