Dude! I am like full on geeking out over here. Yah.

Hand in hand with my last post, postulating that there could be a Skype based game of AD&D with some of my old cohorts if they're of a mind, there is the discovery (thanks to a recommendation in the comments of said last post) of Gametable.

Gametable is astoundingly easy to connect to and use. It just plain works. It should work on any computer system (someone might need a Java Run Environment installed, but that's just it). It will handle dice rolling. It will handle making maps in real time just like I had a big ol' vinyl map and a dry erase marker. It will do all that is needed to actually run the game.

And? It is the mastermind of mad scientist Andy Weir.

Is there anything Webcartoonists can't do?

Deflect drama?

Apparently not.

L. Neil Smith is writing a webcomic, Eric. You remember him? Probability Broach? Libertarian SF Novelist?

Roswell, Texas. Kind of interesting.

... so, okay, there's one thing they can't do. Be taken seriously.

Right. You're tasked with finding a decent-webcomic-drawing immigration lawyer. :)

Hm. I know a webcomic-drawing Intellectual Property lawyer. Maybe he knows a webcomic drawing immigration lawyer....

Dude. Worth a shot.

Hmmmmmm.... Don't know about the Webcomic drawing part, but I still have friends from my days working for the Cornell Law School ... You want one, I'll ask around.

I know a non-webcomic drawing immigration paralegal who used to work with the INS... she frequents the same place Jinn does. That help?

You know where to find me. Bug me tonight.

Say the word, and I'll download the client of your choice and be ready to play.

Any game you wish. Although I'll need to go out and invest in books for some of them.

Did you get the ID I mailed to your Livejournal e-mail?

Another cool app that goes nicely hand-in-hand with VoIP is the MoonEdit (http://www.moonedit.com) collaborative text editor for Windows/Linux. Gives multiple people cursors in the same text document, so you can co-write to your hearts' content. As fun as it is to write together, and to talk together, it's even more fun to write and talk together at the same time.

Yes!

I was on top of gametable as soon as it came out (thanks to finding Casey and Andy through Websnark), and I completely understand and second your jubilation. It's exactly the kind of thing I had been looking for, as well. And, as Andy's put it up on SourceForge, it seems likely that any feature requests or bug fixes you might need over the course of using the program stand a good chance of getting implemented quickly.

Now if only Casey and Andy wasn't ending..
