Ahhhh... humanity
Jan. 24th, 2006 10:25 amGot a really kickass night's sleep. Which is very, very good, as I needed one.
I posted a link on Websnark yesterday to Home on the Strange, less on its own merits (I thought it was a good, solid first day of a webcomic, but it was still the first day, so we'll see) but on the merits of
roniliquidity and
theferrett.
I knew, the minute I did that, I'd get some mail. And that some of it would come down to "I've been working my fingers to the bone for years, and you've never said squat about my webcomic. How do these guys rate?!"
Well, let me make it at least somewhat clearer.
Ferrett and Roni? Impressed me with writing and art, respectively, for some time. So I'm naturally interested in what happens when they combine them and form Voltron.
The person whose webcomic I've never mentioned, on the other hand? Sucks.
That isn't always true, of course. In some cases, I've never seen the webcomic before now. Which actually points out the strength of, oh, I dunno, finding an audience for your work and then networking and pimping and all the things people claim today a webcomic shouldn't do -- because brilliant doesn't mean anyone will ever actually read the damn thing, if they never hear of it.
But almost all the people who sent me mail that was thinly disguised "why him and not meeeeeeeee?" can be answered by "well, because you're not very good, and I don't make a habit of publicly mocking people."
Notice I said "almost" all of the people. So if you're feeling offended because you sent me one of those e-mails? Hey, I clearly didn't mean you. You rock. No, really.
