Writing matters

Three and a half years ago, I wrote an essay commemorating Robert 'Gino' Marella's life and career. You'd probably know him better as Gorilla Monsoon, the former wrestler and wrestling commentator from the WWF of the 70's, 80's and early 90's.

Today, I got e-mail from one of his family members, thanking me. "Gino would've liked that," she said.

Writing matters, folks. When you write, and put it out there, it can make a difference to someone you've never known. And when they take the time to acknowledge you, it makes all the difference in the world to you.

"Gino would've liked that."

Wow.

I never got the chance to go to any of the wrestling events live/in person when I was little. "Girls don't do that sort of thing" was what I was told. ::grrrr:: I miss Gorilla. ::sigh:: What you wrote was really touching, and I bet he would have loved it.

::hugs::
