I have a horrible memory for song titles and artists, but I believe it's Tom Petty who sings "the waiting is the hardest part".
I know it's hard, I know it's frustrating, and I know you feel like quitting at times. I know your situation is different than a lot of peoples. But you listed three wonderful reason not to quit, and they all centered around you. The only way change can happen is if it comes from inside you and if it's for you.
The surgery will come. I don't know when, but I know it will. Until it comes, continue with what you're doing. Venting will help. Talking to the doctor will help.
