looks good! (i am actually glad i can choose to not see other people's setup all the time -- while i appreciate the creativity, other people's colour schemes and font size choices don't always suit my eyes.)
the reason i use MT isn't freedom over the design so much as control over the server. i couldn't stand LJ/DJ slowing me down or timing out during updates (such as now, *arrgh*). i like control over my own tech. if you wanted to, you could not provide an RSS feed, you know. it's all configurable.
and it's supremely excellent that your hospital visit went so well! here's hoping real hard that your insurance gets its act together.
