Vital stats

Not counting the actual recruitments I've done, we're getting submissions. They're looking good.

Well, some of them are.

I'll admit, I'm amused at those that clearly didn't read the submission guidelines, beyond getting the e-mail address. Of course, it was the first day. In a month, I might not be so... amused.

I salute you and wish you good luck.

May you feel the pain that I have every week with my "submit your idea for a Q&A strip" link. People that send the most absolutely idiotic things they could come up with like it's some kind of contest to out-stupid everyone else, submit questions I already answered in previous comics, submit stuff answered on the character page, send me pictures of themself dressed as a pirate, ask my why I haven't published books of my comics yet, ask completely personal stuff they have no business or right to ask, and write small novellas about [insert random subject here] that would drive me nuts even if they were sent to the correct address.

I had to take down the link a couple of weeks ago just to have a break from it before I climbed a clock tower somewhere. People started mailing questions to my regular email address instead.

A month? I give you a week. Tops.

Back when I was modding a moderated art archive, I think something like 40% of the apps right out of the gate didn't follow the rules (and they were toughies, like "Give us your name," and "Give us three working links" and "Please don't include Sonic fan art.")

And in two years, it never got any better, either...

Wait 'til they start re-submitting under pen-names to try and fake you out and other glories.

Working on something for ya, hoss. But I need to get it completely finished first. It's a long short story, if that makes sense.

but this one's different!

I've got a great idea for a comic It stars a guy who's name sounds like mine and he's totally awesome I don't have an artist yet but I know you could help me find one I've included a 50 page plot synopsis behind this LJ cut including a description of my collage friends and their talking animal... Wait, why are you crying?

Hey, I figured I'd do it while it was still funny. I've never understood why people can't understand the rules. They can read, we know that much. Otherwise, how would they know who to send their horribly bad work to? I wish you both luck and strength. congratulations, by the way, on the new position.

They don't need to actually be able to read to click on a link. Just distinguish the differently coloured links and click the button appropriately.

An excellent point.

Perhaps people should start disguising their links; Color them black, remove the underline. Simply designate it as part of the sentence. "Having read the guidelines, click on the following sentence to send me an email. Click here."

Then you'd NEED to read the entire thing.

They might still guess where the link was. (It being at the end.)

It might be better if you said, "Having read the guidelines, click on the 3rd word of this very sentence to send me an email."

Then that would necessiate some understanding of the English language and whatnot.
