Hasten down the Wind

Zevon's dead.
He warned us. He's been warning us for decades, and he made it more immediate.
He survived to see his twin grandchildren born, when he only learned his daughter was pregnant after he was told he had three months to live.
He finished six months of intense work on a new album, after being told he had three months to live. That album broke the Billboard top twenty in its first week for the first time in Zevon's career. He lived to see that.
He has left albums and songs and a profound impact, not only on our culture -- he was always a cult favorite rather than a huge pop star -- but on the musicians who followed.
We got more of him than we deserved. He gave us a Hell of a lot. And he took whatever he liked.
"I'll sleep when I'm dead," he said. Now he's got his chance.
Thanks, Warren.
