Hot damn! That's some really hot damn going on! When is the surgery? Where do we send flowers and get-well hot tea?

Seriously, that's fabulous. I've really been crossing my fingers for you.

While I'm glad you get to live, why would they NOT APPROVE the surgery to let someone live, ESPECIALLY if it meant someone might die?!

Because the 'letter of the law' (ie the hoops that need to be jumped through to get it) and their oh so precious @#$#@$@$ bottom line is more important than the lives of the people they allegedly serve. Yes, I'm being really cynical.

That being said... YAY!!!!!!! JOY! JOY JOY HalleluuuUUUUJAH!

Because then they would have to pay a lot of money.

They tried very hard to make the gastric bypass seem like elective surgery, and that I hadn't been 'properly nutritionally counselled.' After getting my complete history -- particularly the multiple co-morbidities which really did cast some doubt on my survival to the end of the year -- they... well, still didn't approve it. It's almost certain the State would have interceded, however, and I think they pay a fine then, so they were just trying to dishearten me and wait me out. I and my Doctor elected to get pissed instead.

We won. I am content.

Get the surgery over and done with, and then you can truly say you beat those fuckers.

Very happy for you, buddy. Sounds like you got a good doc on your side, too.

*hug*

And the angels wept with joy

I cannot even begin to tell you how happy I am for you. Words fail me. The only words that come to mind other than the above are: DON'T FORGET TO TELL ALL OF US WHO LOVE YOU WHEN YOUR FANTASTIC BELATED BIRTHDAY PRESENT WILL BE DELIVERED.

I love you, and I couldn't have read better news.
